The lowdown on DTF 2018!

After an awesome Fringe season, the city turns its  attentions to Dublin Theatre Festival, curated by top buzzer and Where We Live collaborator Willie White.  Here’s a taste of what the Popbaby massive will see over the next weeks:

Irish companies are killing it this year…

Check out Corn Exchange’s The Misfits at Smock Alley, a smart reimagining of the classic film including brilliant performances. We were particularly impressed with Emmet Byrne and Patrick Ryan, who are both known for their TV work but are burning up the stage!

Gina Moxley and Pan Pan present The Patient Gloria at the Abbey, displaying slick design, interesting subject matter and using a strong female team (yay!).

Check out a spellbinding Ruth Negga in the title role of Hamlet at The Gate (you’d be lucky to snap up a ticket for this at this stage). One Shakespeare revival, not to be missed!

We loved Elevator Repair Service’s Gatz and now we can’t wait to see their new show – Everyone’s Fine with Virginia Woolf. It promises to be a loving homage and fierce feminist take-down of Edward Albee’s drama Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

We’re also dying to catch The End of Eddy at Project Arts Centre. Playing on sex, sexuality, power and class – it sounds right up our street and is aimed at young audiences over the age of 16.
