Landfall: Occupation
Peter Maybury
14 March

An architect, an artist, a curator and an activist walk into an exhibition…

Responding to the themes of contested ground, boundaries, resources and energy, four creative thinkers with very different perspectives and priorities kick around ideas around occupation, inspired by Peter Maybury’s Landfall exhibition at Where We Live. Curator Nathalie Weadick, Architect Emmett Scanlon and Senator Lynn Ruane join Peter for this free public talk, followed by a guerrilla street performance from Acid Granny

Landfall is a dual-screen film installation by Peter Maybury. Recorded across Ireland over the past eight years, a succession of juxtaposing vignettes form observations on ‘Ireland’ as a set of conditions – geographical, political, and ideological.

Peter Maybury works as an artist, graphic designer, musician and educator. His practice-based research encompasses design for print and screen, wayfinding systems, film, sound, artworks for exhibition, publishing, editing and curation. Music releases include several albums as Hard sleeper and as part of the band Thread Pulls. He lectures in Visual Communication at TU Dublin School of Creative Arts.

Lynn Ruane is an independent senator serving in Seanad Éireann, a former President of Trinity College Dublin’s Students’ Union and a lifelong activist and campaigner on issues of justice and equality.

Emmett Scanlon is an architect, exhibition curator, educator and writer. He is Assistant Professor at University College Dublin and is festival production designer of this year’s Where We Live.
