General statement

We are THISISPOPBABY of c/o Project Arts Centre, 39 East Essex Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2, Ireland (“THISISPOPBABY”, “TIPB”, “we”, “us”, “our”) – a theatre and events production company.

The purpose of this notice is to let you know what personal information we collect and use in connection with this website.

THISISPOPBABY treatment of your personal information is governed by;

  • The Irish Data Protection Acts 1988 to 2018,
  • EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016
  • EU Privacy and Electronic Communications and Regulations 2003

plus a lot of respect and some common sense from the team at TIPB!

If you have any questions about our use of your personal information, please contact claire@thisispopbaby.com

So what sort of information do we collect from you?

For starters we don’t and can’t do anything with your personal information unless you give it to us. And when you do give it to us we promise not to sell it or give it away to anyone else.

That settled, let us explain what information you give us.

On the Website.

When you use our website, we do collect some non-identifiable technical stuff like;

  • The IP address of the your web server
  • The top-level domain name used (for example .ie, .com, .org, .net)
  • The previous website address from which the you reached us, including any search terms used
  • Google analytics which shows the traffic of visitors around this web site (for example pages accessed and documents downloaded)
  • The type of web browser and operating system used by the website visitor
  • We will ask you to agree the use of cookies information from you. Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device to help our site provide a better user experience.

We make art happen and a lot of this IT stuff is quite dull so if you really really want to know more about our IT processes why not drop a line to us and we will then ask the bearded strange guy who comes in and does our computers and website, (we do have him locked in to a confidentiality agreement and he does seem nice), to get back to you.

One of the other things you can do on our website is sign up for the TIPB mailing list.

All we actually need from you is an email address of yours. If you like you can give us your name and hey you can even give us a new name, your nickname or a name that you really wished your parents called you.

Again and just to get this clear, we promise not to sell or give this information away to anyone.

The only people with access to it is the TIPB team and remember the bearded strange guy who does our computers and internet he can also access it, but he won’t unless he has to, he signed an agreement saying so and if he goes near it without a great reason we will fire him and maybe sue him and distribute the winnings to you all, perhaps.

When booking tickets

So if you are impressed by our website, have heard how fabulous our shows are and want to buy a ticket for one of our shows we will have a link, under the BOOK tab on our website, that will bring you to the promoters site or to an Eventbrite site.

If it’s the promoters site they will be the ones taking all your details, identification, contact details and payment information.

If it’s our own promotion we use Eventbrite. They use their own software to manage your booking and your ticket. There is a huge amount of optional information you can submit to Eventbrite when you are booking a ticket but for the purpose of securing a ticket all they need is your name, email and credit card detail

The only information we will see will be the name of the person who booked the ticket, the email address given and the amount of money debited from the card you booked. Aside from the last four digits we have no access, nor does the bearded strange guy who does our computers and website, to your card details that you booked our ticket from.

Most likely if you bought a ticket from us once for a show we will then keep your email address and occasionally mail you if we think that you may be interested in a similar show. But if you never want to hear from us ever again or change your mind about receiving these emails we promise never to mail you again.

In our Shop

You know the section on the SHOP tab on the site, well we have some sweatshirts!  We use PayPal to process any payments for orders taken through our shop. They use their own software to manage your payment information and you may already have your own PayPal account through which you can give them a variety of information. For the purposes of purchasing something from our shop all they need is your name, email and credit card details and billing/shipping address.

The only information we will see will be the name of the person who bought something, is the email address given and the amount of money debited from the card you booked and the relevant billing/postal addresses. We can issue a refund through PayPal but have no access, nor does the bearded strange guy who does our computers and website, to the card details that you used for your purchase.

Some more legal, regulatory stuff and we are nearly wrapped up.

If you want to lodge a compliant with the Data Protection Commissioner about anything to do with how we manage your personal information the best way is to ring their office on Locall 1890 252 231.

You may want to contact us first and see if we can resolve the matter together, so send a mail to claire@thisispopbaby.com and give us a chance to see if can be make you happy again (after all no-one like a snitch – only joking!)

On security we can only promises you that we do have appropriate technical and managerial measures in place to protect your privacy and keep your information secure. You’ll just have to take our word on that one or email us and we can get you-know-who to give you the full security specification.

The lawful basis for you processing your information is

  • Consent – when you use our site
  • Contract – when you book a ticket with us, acting as promoters, or buy something in our shop
  • Legitimate interest – when you’ve bought a ticket and we email you about other shows

We will hold on to your personal information for “no longer than is necessary”. Admittedly that’s a bit vague but that’s what the legislation says, so we will set it at, say,  five years for keeping your email for any TIBP products you may be interested in, unless you tell us otherwise, and the likes of Revenue would make us keep any financial records for seven years if you bought something from us.

That’s it – see, that wasn’t so painful .
