2019 Round Up

What. A. Year. It’s been a bumper year for the company and we’re finally taking a moment to draw breath and look back at everything we achieved in 2019.

In March we had an outstanding, sold-out, world premier run of Sure Look It Fuck It, written by and performed by one of the rising stars of Irish stage and screen Clare Dunne, at Project Arts Centre. We then went on to bring our international smash hit RIOT home! We played to packed houses in Vicar Street in May as part of Dublin Dance Festival. We were thrilled to be back in Dublin setting hearts soaring and pulses racing once more.

Outside of Dublin the Lords of Strut were making people laugh in loads of places as they toured all the country with their smash hit family adventure ABSOLUTE LEGENDS.

The engine never stopped running behind the scenes, with workshops and script readings focused on developing new work taking place throughout the year. In April there was an incredible workshop for our next multi-disciplinary show – details are still top secret but we’ll be telling you more very soon….#WAKEtheshow

In July we dove into Mark O’Halloran’s new play Conversations After Sex, directed by Tom Creed, which went on to have a fantastic In Development showing at Dublin Theatre Festival. More details about when and where you can catch this brilliant piece of new writing coming in the New Year #ConversationsAfterSex

We announced an outstanding series of commissions for Where We Live 2020 which sees Malaprop Theatre Company, TKB and Wayne Jordan all creating urgent pieces which respond to the theme of home and what it means to live in Dublin and Ireland right now. You will be able to see the full productions of these theatrical gems as part of Where We Live in March next year, with the full programme to be announced in January 2020. #WHEREWELIVE

We also had an amazing time with the artists participating in our inaugural membership programme POPbase, which ran from July to September and offered dedicated workspace to artist and makers taking part in Dublin Fringe Festival.

Finally, it takes more than love, sweat and tears to keep this sparkling show on the road and we had an amazing response to the launch of our patron scheme POP HEROES this year. We are very grateful to everyone who dug deep and supported us but the there’s always room for more! Take a peek at what we offer our valued supporters here, and join us in making our artistic dreams come true.

We hope you all have a dazzling festive season and be sure to put tickets to one of our amazing new shows in 2020 on your Christmas list!
